Distributive Property

Distributive Property:

Distributive property states that for any three numbers x, y and z we have

  x × ( y + z ) = (x × y) +( x × z)

The distributive property states that multiplying a sum by a number gives the same result as multiplying each addend by the number and then adding the products together. Distributive property shows an important process in algebra.Distributive property definition -for any number a , b , ca × (b + c ) = a × b + a × c= ab + acLet us see with the help of example how to do distributive property:Example: Solve 2 (6 + 8 ) , using distributive property.

Solution:   2 (6 + 8 ) = 2 x 6 + 2 x 8                 = 12 + 16                 = 28
